Homeland Security
The Homeland Security responsibilities include coordinating critical infrastructure security assessments and coordinating access to tools that businesses and individuals can use to self-assess cyber security vulnerabilities.
Emergency Planning
Emergency Management develops and maintains the Albany County/City of Laramie/Town of Rock River Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan which consists of several governmental emergency and mitigation plans. We also assist local businesses with Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP) and work with regional partners to develop congruent emergency plans.
Training & Exercise
Our office facilitates a community exercise program for emergency responders, private partners, and others. We also deliver courses to the public including the National Weather Service’s Weather Spotter Training, Incident Command Training, and personal preparedness training.
Grant Assistance & Administration
Our agency is responsible for several grants issued by the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security (WOHS). We also assist other public safety agencies with Homeland Security grant and mitigation grant acquisitions and requirements.
Emergency Operation Center Management
Our agency manages and maintains the Albany County Emergency Operations Center (EOC). This is the facility where major policy level decisions, disaster declarations, situation monitoring, and recovery efforts are coordinated from during a disaster.
Public Warning System Coordination
Albany County Emergency Management coordinates with other local agencies to ensure the proper function of the various methods used to alert and immediately inform the public during an emergency situation. These methods are all part of our local area Emergency Alert System (EAS). For more information please see our Public Warning System page.
